The race for home-field advantage in the NFC is officially on!
The Philadelphia Eagles and Detroit Lions are now tied on record at 12-2. They’re also level on the futures odds boards. DraftKings listed both teams at +450 to win the Super Bowl and +210 to win the NFC after the Birds’ win over the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Lions’ loss to the Buffalo Bills.
There’s a bit of difference between the two sides at FanDuel. Detroit is +450 to win the Super Bowl and the Eagles are +500. The Lions are +190 to win the NFC and the Birds sit at +250.
There’s reason for the Lions to be favored, at least to win the NFC, because they own the conference record tiebreaker over the Eagles.
However, the Birds have the more favorable schedule down the stretch.
The Birds’ last road game is in Week 16 against the Washington Commanders and then they host the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants.
A 3-0 finish is highly likely, and by the way, if the Birds beat Washington, the Commanders are at risk of missing the playoffs because the second-place team in the NFC West could be level with them by the end of Week 16. Washington is +450 to miss the playoffs.

Detroit has to go on the road to face the Chicago Bears and San Francisco 49ers and then will host the Minnesota Vikings in a game that could be for the NFC North in Week 18.
The two road games don’t look scary on paper, but Chicago is pesky and could play the role of spoiler, while the Niners are still technically alive in the NFC West.
Those games might look more difficult now that David Montgomery is out indefinitely with an MCL sprain. That’s the latest in a long line of injuries the Lions have suffered. Most of them have been on defense and that made the Lions vulnerable in Sunday’s loss to the Bills.
Minnesota could still land the No. 1 seed as well, but has an even more difficult finish. The Vikings visit the Seattle Seahawks in Week 16, host the Green Bay Packers in Week 17 and then go to Detroit in Week 18. Minnesota should beat Chicago on Monday night, but you never know how divisional games can go.
From a fan’s perspective, I would root for a Minnesota loss before Week 18 (probably against Green Bay) and then for a Detroit loss in Week 18. Both results are possible, and if they happen and the Birds win out, the road to the Super Bowl in the NFC goes through Lincoln Financial Field.
